Default clearancing body for passenger side long tube

i saw a pic of someone that took a hammer to clearance the frame of the car on the passenger side so the header didnt hit and i cant find that pic anymore. it was a green car, guy did it with the engine dropped out. if i could get that pic or some info on where to clearance that would be great. the engine/trans/k member is out of the car at the moment and i will be installing the headers while its all out. i was hoping to clearance this now without having to position it all back in and out again.

Clearance the header. I never liked beating the frame rail on a unibody if thats where you are talking about. Beating those headers wont hurt the preformance. 63 to 82 Corvettes that use the full length race header side pipe deal have to beat the living **** out of one of the primaries to the point it looks to be a restriction on the driver side. My Father races one with an old 800hp Hendrick cup engine with those headers and it does not hurt it to much at all.

Do you think hitting the frame rail with a 2lb sledge or ball peen hammer is going to move the frame? I doubt it would but who knows, I could be wrong. I did mine with the short block in the car so I had a fairly small area to try and get a swing at it. I've had to beat so many other areas of this car putting it back together that I really didn't think twice. Plus with sub frame connectors and a cage, it's not really an issue.

If you decide to clearance the header itself, take your time and use some heat. If you hit it too hard you might crush the primary and then you'll be needing some unintended fab work.

I went up from the bottom. Didn't have to bang/move anything.
