Default just double checking on lsx coils

im doing the ls1 pcm swap on my lt1 383....there is no real difference in coils right? ive read and read and the differences(not talking about size or actual shape) is not much.....right? cus im getting offers for ls1 coils/brackets/ and harness for 100 and any other type like truck coils for 120-130 (coils/brackets/harness).....so im just gonna go with ls1 coils and pcm.

my project is nitrous prep, 383, 93 speed density, m6, LE/2 H/C.....lift is .608

Who does the wiring and programming? The one thing I miss about my LS1 was the coil on plug setup. I really hate messing with the opti...

I'm running the truck coils with the heat sinks. People claim they are the best option. Supposedly worth power over the LS1/2 coils. I didn't see any gain when I did my 24x conversion though. Even when the dyno operator changed the settings from SAE to STD I was down about 7 rwhp. Same dyno the two different times just setup differently I guess, LT1 PCM was on a dyno day, went back there for my tune.

AR15 guy, the plug and play option is by EFI Connections.

That one of the reason why, I like ls1 engine over lt1 . But hate the ls1 front cat fish look. How much it cost to do the swap over to ls1 coil over ?

yep thats pretty much the reason for my swap and supposedly better tuneing software and ability to rev higher (7k )....gaining hp only from the swap is a hit or miss....not many people posting hp gains yet.....and i see its a little tricky to tune...not as simple as tuning a ls1 pcm on a ls1 motor....things do have to be edited and switched...for what exactly you might want to find the post on here that goes more into depth....the cheapest way to get the conversion is to buy the coils/pcm your self....repin your existing harness(cant use a 93 i believe) and buy the 24x sensor from efi connections.

I have a guy locally who can tune for it. If I am not mistaken he has done one of these swaps before.

The only time you would see a gain between coils is if you have bad or weak coils.

The LSx coils are potent. If you're starting from scratch, I would go for the LS2 truck coils because they are a bit more powerful, but in all reality, there will be no gains.

yea at least you can drive thru the hard rains, without worried your opti fail. This is my dd, so I drove it every day, some time it rains so hard, and water is high on the road, I pull over and wait for the rains to go away then keep driving. Any one ever do this ? like affaird opti fail when drive thru the hard rains ?

I daily drove my car with the opti for 6.5-7 years. I never feared heavy rain or large puddles. Where my two died is when the car would sit un-driven for a months time or more!
