Default Installed New Jegs 8.5mm Wires Today...

I replaced my old MSD wires with these and was very happy with the quality from them. They were all crimped properly and werent marked up. for $40 i feel they were very well worth it. I did check there resistance and there was only 1 that was slightly low, but still within specs for the set. I also measured the resistance on my MSD wires and got some interesting comparisons. (all wires were measured with the multimeter @ 20k)

Wire# MSD Jegs
Coil .02 .40
#1 2.99 .50
#2 .06 .72
#3 .06 .73
#4 .09 .99
#5 N/A .92
#6 .12 1.18
#7 .12 .84
#8 .14 1.51

The MSD wires have alot less resistance. But i feel that the Jegs wires were better off (if that makes much sense) The MSD's also had one that didnt read at all! No visual brakes or cracks, and another read Way to high!

With the Jegs wires on the car it fired right up and ran Very very strong. I drove it around for afew miles and everything felt improved. Overall I am very pleased with my $40 wires

I'm glad you liked them! They've worked great for me and I'll be sticking with those for a while.

As will I. I even bought a set for my friend and all the wires were fine. Now that i have a set on my car. IDK why people would rather run msd wires.

A bunch of us have had very good results with Granatelli Motorsports zero Ohm wires, including myself. I wonder how they'd do for full length wire sets like on the LT1.

Obviously more expensive but they have a lifetime warranty.

I got a set of the 8.5mm Jegs ones for Christmas from my wife, I've been waiting to put them on and I'm happy to hear good things about them.

MSD 8.5 wires will read right around 50 ohms a foot. This is a lot less than most stock replacements. Throw the multimeter in the lowest range you can get away with, reading anything in a 20k ohm setting is bound to be off.

I ran them for 6k miles no complaints at all, except their a PITA to run in the stock location.

So far im really happy with them. Cant say anything bad at all. Mine arent routed in the stock location so it was easy for me to get them where i needed them to go.

Paul, those wires do look good! There are afew videos out on those wires and i can only wonder if theyd provide the same results on my car!

Power produced by them has been hotly debated. The bottom line is that they do make some power when replacing stock high resistance wires. While I haven't dyno'd my car befor and after installing them, I will say my car runs better with them. They have a ferrite ring to eliminate RFI. I also used the WeaponX zero Ohms spark plugs. My car likes!

I would think that as the LT1 engine uses long old school style wires, the improvement zero Ohm wires make might be more noticeable.

I'm speculating here but it makes sense. My LS7 wires measured 800 Ohms at like 10 inches. The same wire for an LT1 might be 30 inches long making them like 2500 Ohms. The GMS wires would still read almost zero.

And thats the real ticket. As minuscule as it may be. The different from the lets say, #1 wire to the #7 wire on a small black is a big one! Im sure those Zero ohm wires will make a much bigger improvement on a more traditional setup as opposed to the lsx style ignition setup. and with that...

If/when i get a new set of wires. I will certainly be biting the bullet and going for the granetelli wires..

Ive had the 8.0 mm wires from taylor and so far i havent had any serious issues

but my friend did notice one that seemed somewhat burnt, but I just ended up buying them because they were a lot cheaper than the msd wires

I also had one MSD not read continuity and one read extremely high when I pulled them doing the 24x setup. When I do my truck project I think I'll keep the Jegs in mind as it is supposed to be a budget deal.

Nice dude, from what I can tell these sound like a really great deal. They don't have a cut to fit option do they? I run an OTVC setup and actually really like it so that's the only monkey wrench for me.

Can Granatelli wires be easily routed in the stock location?
