Default FINALLY build time..need some opinions

So lastnight i went and picked up a factory 4 bolt shortblock with unknown mileage. This things looks really really good, im guessing it has maybe 50 to 75k on it. My question to you guys is would you put a set of new rod and main bearings in it as well as a set of rings, or just run it. Its going to have a stock cam and heads on it until this winter. Im trying to just have a little fun for the summer. Car will be full bolt ons and 1.6 rockers with patriot gold extremes.

Do it once, do it right IMO. That's not something you're going to want to do twice.

If it were me, because I'm **** about that kind of thing, absolutely. I'd have it completely disassembled, tanked, bored, line honed, magnafluxed, etc., and completely redone with new bearings, freeze plugs, rings, etc. That way you've got a base for future modifications that you personally KNOW is mechanically sound. Granted you could take the risk and run it as-is, but the peace of mind, IMO, is worth it.

Just got back from the machine shop down the street, good guy my dads always used. 125 to check the heads out, deck them, change spings, hot tank and check valves. 425 for parts and labor on the shortblock he said it looked really good.[IMG][/IMG]

Word, that's what I'm going to end up doing a second time that is. Do it right first time around.

build as of so far, shortblock is going to Burlington Performance on Friday. Theyre gonna rebuild it using stock crank rods and pistons, having a set of stock heads cleaned up, decked, new valve seals and Patriot Golds put on. gonna run a LE 224/230 .573/.568 on 110 running a set of LS7 lifters on it then all the usual ****

One question whats the difference between a cloyes 1145 and 3145?
