Default Opinions on Borla XR-1's

Im shopping for a set of race mufflers for the car right now...........something im just going to run directly off the headers for the track..........i used to run 3" dynomax bullets but this winter i switched to a 3.5" headder so im looking for something new......loudness doenst matter i just need to not loose any power and i want it to sound nasty......

heres a clip of the dynomax bullets from last year........aybody use the XR1's in a cammed car??? anybody have sound clips.....just like to hear something before i dump the money.......these suckers are expensive!!!

Have you looked into the moroso spiral flows? I am running them on my dumped x-pipe and gives the car a very deep roar. Not sure how it would sound off the headers - I would image awesome!

I think they are some of the best sounding mufflers out there.

I've got a 3.5" XR1 in my garage I'll be putting in my i-pipe along with longtubes. They're pretty much hollow minus two louvered baffles that run parallel to the muffler body... I can get a pic if you want

I like Schoenfeld race mufflers. They are called mufflers so they meet requirements for "must be muffled" race cars but, they do absolutely no muffling IMO and they are only about $15 a piece.

I did a bunch of research on mufflers and I chose Borla Pro XS. They have the absolute best balance of power, sound and flow.

They make within 2hp of the wide open mufflers that make your ears bleed, have an awesome LOW evil throaty tone. In fact they made more AVERAGE HP (which we all know wins races) than any other muffler they were compared against.

The spiral flows sound amazing on some combos, but they are a huge restriction. There is a thread on here about a guy losing 70hp through spiral flows...

So, I vote Borla Pro XS. They outperform the XR 1's and sound better / deeper.
