Default Aluminum driveshaft?

I have a 95 trans am with the factory steel driveshaft and was thinkin about changing to a 98-02 aluminum driveshaft. I ran across one for sale for a good deal and was wondering what improvements I would see 1/8th mile wise?

almost none. you're only saving 5lbs. if you had a v6 and were dropping 15lbs then it might make a noticeable difference

It is doubtful it will be anything you will notice.

I bought the 1LE driveshaft, and I noticed no difference except for the smooth vibration free ride.

No noticeable improvement in performance.....WAY less vibration at 75 MPH+.....definitely get one if you have 4.10 gears like me; stock steel driveshaft started vibrating the hell out of my car once gears were put in and cruise speed crept up to 2100 RPM from 1600 before (6spd) @ 70 MPH.

i bet you bought an air foil and a tornado when you heard about them as well. you will gain nothing from an aluminum DS.

Keep in mind that while an aluminum driveshaft can help fix some high speed vibrations, they are also MUCH weaker than the OEM steel. If you're an M6 and are planning some sticky tire clutch drops with an aluminum shaft, you're going to be in for a surprise.

This is the exact reason why I did not go with the ls1 aluminum drive shaft. The risk far out ways any benefits; my steel drive shaft is smooth.

I have a aluminum LS1 DS still, with a RPM T-56 behind the 396 and a 12 bolt out back I know its my weak link. I probably should get a better one. The aluminum ds is better balanced than the stock steel it was still off a bit.

I will mention that the LS1 driveshaft is much weaker than the 1LE peice.
