Default What do you think about wrapping your headers

I'm thinking of wrapping my headers but I'm not sure if I like how it looks.
I'm sick burning wires so I bought the little 1x6 inch sleeves for the boots. The last wire I burned was routed under the two middle cylinders so, I was thinking of wrapping them to prevent this from happening again. I have a roll kickin around so I don't need to buy it.
Wrap do you guys think

To wrap or not to wrap ?

Wrapping the headers will help a ton to keep engine bay temps down and also to keep exhaust velocities up. Not really what I would do to a daily driver but that's just my .02. The downside to wrap is that it can hold water and speed up the corrosion/rusting...

I hope you're talking about wrapping a set of painted headers....

Its retarded. Get your headers ceramic coated, such as the coating by swaintech.
Put fiberglass sleeves on the wires if burning is still an issue.

With proper routing it shouldn't be though.

Looks like ****, makes routing the wires a pain, soaks up oil, and can be a fire hazard.

Ceramic coated headers and properly routed plug wires should be all you need. If you still have problems get the fiberglass heat sleeves gregrob mentioned.

I'll wrap one up off the car to see how it looks. I'm just so sick of melting wires. Its so much work to replace the wires with a procharger.

I'm sure it's a lot of work, but now you're taking up MORE space with all that wrap.

My headers are not on the car now so it should not be that much work.
I did not even think about the fire aspect. I've already had a few close calls with under the hood fires.
How are you guys routing your wires. I removed that aluminum cover.

Most people don't know that they are rusted until they start to leak bad. hell, you can't see the metal... lol

wrapping, as i have seen, can keep more heat in the tube than coating them will...
