Accel is arguably the WORST choice. Your best bet is an AC Delco. The AC Delco has a better reliability rate than the alternatives.

Dynaspark is changing back to the mitsubishi optical sensor so if you have the money and want a lifetime warantee i dont see any other way to go.

My opti went out recently and I've been researching optis for a while now. According to what I've researched, Accel is a not the best brand. Infact, many people absolutely loathe them. Chandler offers a cheap opti with lifetime warranty, however I haven't heard anything on how they actually perform.. and about half of them are DOA. Delphi and AC Delcos are the best for OEM type optis and you can find them both for around $360. Some people say that the AC Delcos are not the best for a highly modified car going into high RPMs but I ordered one anyway since my car is mostly stock. A lot of guys prefer MSD for the high RPM builds. I'd say go with either AC Delco or MSD. Don't ever get anything cheap or it will fail early.

Just don't order it from a local dealer (unless it's one off shoebox's website). I went to do a price check at one dealer close to me and they wanted seven hundred seventeen dollars and 00/100...

But wasn't that installed, along with a new timing chain, and water pump??

I purchased an Accel and it was a POS! It was giving me problems so I took it apart and noticed it did not have a mitsubishi optical sensor, it was a no-name. So, I purchased a reman cardone opti from autozone and i made sure it had the mistubishi optical sensor. I purchased a $25 cap and rotor kit from ebay. I put it all together and it worked flawless! I think the mitsubishi optical sensor is the key.

you will get mixed opinions on everything around here on this since almost everyone that has had an opti failure has had their own experiences....when i put my 383 together i went thru 3 new gm performance ones from summit...1 autozone...and one known good used one...some lasted a month and a cpl literally a day or a simple test drive....i bit the bullet a purchased a msd when they cameout and it was perfect...after 600 miles i pulled it cause i got another new one in a package deal and the first was still perfect...that was about 15000 miles ago and multiple 6900 hits on it so i feel the msd is a good option...now after having it sit on a shelf for a few years if i could only find someone to buy my extra to get it outta my way..lol

Installed Chandler opti about 2 weeks ago with a new set of MSD wires....Fired right up and hasnt skipped a beat. Daily driver. Oh and I received it within 2-3 days of purchase through ebay.
