Default Towing questions

So, I need to tow my car about 1.2 miles away to do a tune up, and I know I cant attach a tow rope to the bottom because it will mess up the air dam, which I've learned is important to helping the car run cool. How did you guys tow rope your cars, if ever. Sure do wish I had a trailer....

Holy smoke, don't rope it through the windows...

If you want to tow it by the front and it's under 2 miles and you feel confident it won't go over about 15-20 MPH, you can just take the air dam off. There's only 9 10mm bolts that hold it on.

Longer distances and higher speeds and you're asking for a busted transmission...

Get a few people to push the damned thing if it's that close. Unless you are running different injectors just drive it there and keep your foot out of it.

Tow truck, trailer or dolly. 1st using a rope is illegal and dangerous. I'm not saying I haven't done it, but if an officer catches you, your car will probably be impounded and you'll catch a nice fine. Rent a dolly for $40 or whatever and tow it. With that distance you will be fine doing it from the front. Anything over 50 miles or 55 mph u need to get the drive wheels off the ground or your trans (if its an auto) will be junk. The m6 can be towed from the front due to its design. Or bite the bullet and have a tow truck come. It may cost up front but it'll save if u catch a coppers eye.

Im at a little lost here, If the car is in "N" and the front wheels are off the ground where is the stress on the trans? wait, thought about it for second, makes some sense. Guess you could disconnect the drive shaft for long trips above 50 mph so your not spinning the trans manualy

U can always disconnect the driveshaft, but you need to make sure you don't remove it fron the trans or if you do you need to plug the tailhousing. Trust me it will make a huge mess of the road and your car if you don't. And paint doesn't really like trans fluid. Lol

Flat bed wrecker. Probably won't cost as much as the ticket you're asking for.

Not recommending this, but to get my project firebird from me neighbors to my house we took a chain, pick up truck with a tow hitch and wrapped it around the hitch / rear of firebird and yanked it across and down the street. City bus came over the hill second we did this

It was the first thing that came to my mind. Didn't think it'd actually work. I'll go with the removing of the air dam method. Thanks fellas
