stock bottom heads/cam
Just trying to make sure the best way to go here. Trying to get into med school and want to make sure i really want to toss enough money at my car for a 396 stroker. What is the rough hp gain with just a really good pair of heads and cam on an lt1 stock engine? Thanks

Is it even worth looking at purchasing a ported intake with a set up like that? So if i go with a good set of ai heads/cam and headers with my borla and 3.73 gears i can prob hit low 400 hp? Thats not bad

If you have a A4 be sure to upgrade the stall. Go with a yank; I went with a edge racing converter, because the price was right, but it did turn out to be a nice converter. Depending on what cam you go with, get a 3200 or higher stall.

I say pull the heads off and inspect the cylinders. Bring the pistons to the top and try to move them around in the cylinder; if they slap around I would go ahead and do the bottom end also. The pistons should not slap around much, when I checked mine out the pistons moved all around and it was burning oil; I could not move the piston at all on my new 355 short block.

Im leaking a little bit of oil and a little bit of coolant on the ground daily. Ive had it tuned and changed the water pump and valve cover gaskets, plugs, wires ect. It is so hard to see anything on this crowded engine. Im guessing my oil pan gasket might be the culprit for the oil. Engine only has 110k miles on it, but it is still like 17 years old. Doubt ill get by without doing some work to the bottom.

There is no link to SBC/LT1 stuff on his website. From what I understand his LT1 heads start at $1800 to $2500 (includes exchange) depending on what you want done. Call and ask. He's very down to earth and will answer any question you have.
