Have you seen a mail order tune? They are very safe, and therefore giving up a considerable amount of power. Don't know if all of them are this way, but I'd bet the big ones all play pretty safe.

If you had a bolt on car, Id say give an email tune a try. But any heads, cam, larger displacement, compression, or power adders-- dont get an email tune! You need to find someone local, that can put the car on a wideband and visually see how the car runs. My local tuner looked at the program on my car from a reputable online tuner and said it was junk. The injector constants were even wrong. My car just got its new base line, hasn't even been on the wideband or dyno yet, and its better than its been in the 2 years I've had it. I even went threw 7 tunes from the online guys, using datamaster each time. I've heard many stories just like mine, too.

Bottom line is an Internet tune is a ballpark, but in no way a great option.

It seems a lot of the mail order tunes are hit and miss for a lot of people here. I have had two different mail order tunes and the first one was really bad. The second one is a lot better but it needs some more work. It helps a lot if you can do some data logging for your tuner instead of them just sending you one tune and hoping for the best.

Isn't a mail order tune for bolt ons fine though? Especially Ion from what i've read/heard. That's what i plan on doing after my full exhaust gets put on.
I can't imagine having an engine built and going for a mail tune though
