Default 1993 LT1 intake on a 96 LT1

I have the opportunity to buy a 93 LT1 intake part number 10208145. However after reading I am understanding there is a difference in what I need from what I am looking at. From what I am seeing I would be lacking the fuel rail crossover recessed area on the top of the manifold. Is this something that can be milled into it or is it to thin and risk break through. I wonder is this the only difference between the intakes from a 93 and one that is for a 94-97 with the crossover. Big thanks to everyone in advance for any help J

There is a lot of material that needs to be removed - more than you think.

What is so special about this 93 intake? There is no benefits either way between 93s or 94+ manifolds. I'd stick with a 94+ for simplicity's sake.

Thanks Mr RamAir 95... there is nothing special about it,, that was just the first one I looked at and ran the numbers and seen where it was a 93 only and read where it wont work on the 94-97 due to fuel rail crossover issues.. I have located one that has the crosssover that I need so I will go with it. Jeff

I thought I remember claims that 93's are better for porting somehow?

The 93 "should" have a little better air distribution due to the lack of the fuel rail crossover obstruction inside. Don't know of any conclusive testing on it though.

If not porting the heads I would stick with the 96 intake as it should best match the heads as cast.

To make a 93 intake work you are looking at probably welding in AN fittings on the rail and plumbing a raised crossover with braid.
