Permatex thread sealant is what I've used for years and it's white.

Stay away from the moly and/or Teflon based thread "sealers" on the market. They can wash away when exposed to the environment of an engine's internals.

A nice sticky Permatex gasket goop will work great and stay put.

NOTHING BUT Permatex 59235. You'll need the 50ml tube- plenty to do the head and intake bolts with some left over. The little tubes you'll need 7-8 of...

I have always used Black RTV and that was with ARP bolts. You can run a tap and due on the block and bolts if your reusing. Make sure the bolts are not TTY

What is the proper technique when applying? Do you use it on all the head bolts?

No evil in that. Don't get hung up on the non-friction aspect of the Teflon ingredient among many others. It's appropriate in both the Permatex and ARP formulas because of its non-reactive properties in corrosive chemical environments. Like what happens to oil in the presence of crankcase / exhaust gases...

ARP 100-9904 Sealant Thread Sealer is also Teflon-inclusive. And this guy has no problems with it over the last 14 years.

Seriously guys, this has been discussed over and over.

Permatex Indian Head used to be the sealer of choice but High Tack is better. It's impervious to oils, fuels, coolants and temperature cycles. Years down the road, pull the head bolts/studs and High Tack is still coating the threads.

Quick Reply: What thread sealer for the head bolts?
