not sure what else you'll need but GM put an LT4 in 100 special 1997 30th ann Camaro SS's so i'd say yes you can use it in your car.

I took it as meaning the pcm itself is from a '95.

Hell I'd keep the lt4, zf 6 spd and pcm and use that in your other project.

Make sure the intake just isn't painted red if that was the case about 50% of LT1s can be mistaken for the LT4 because of the intake.

Unless your 100% sure its an LT4 and you are getting it for a good price why not just cam your LT1 and call it a day?

Here's how to tell for sure, pull the oilpan and look for 4 bolt mains, if yes then you're half way home, next oull the intake and look at the intake ports in the heads if they're tall and rectangular then you should be good to go. Also pull the valve covers and look fot LT4 cast into the heads.

Just look for the raised edge on the intake manifold where it meets the heads. GM put extra material there with the intent of opening the port on the manifold for the raised port on the head. As well as pulling the valve covers and looking for the casting numbers.

Chowderhead here brings up a good point.
GM made an EGR block off plate for the LT4 which was pretty thick and rounded. That would be the first place to look. If there is a block off plate and it's flat and thin then most likely it's aftermarket and should lead to further investigation.
