Default couple questions about 1.7rr on stock motor

Hey guys i am trying to do every bolt on i can to my 95z. and im looking at doing roller rockers and underdrive pulleys next. Now i have heard that doing 1.6rr isnt worth the time but doing 1.7rr is.

So where can i get some 1.7 SA roller rockers for the LT1?
Also what springs should i run and will i need aftermarket valve covers?

Last thing. are the roller rockers and springs all i need for is there other things i will need?

thanks guys

Not sure who told you that 1.6s aren't worth anything. They show a consistent 10-15whp increase alone.

Do a search on this forum for 1.7 - there's tons of info. Also, most site sponsors carry everything you need.

Ideally you'd want a tune to go along with the rockers, but it is not absolutely necessary. Don't forget about seats, retainers, and locks too. I'd suggest the Patriot Gold spring kit.

You can use aftermarket rockers with the stock valve covers, but you may need to trim the interior supports. There are a few guides on how to do this, most popular of which is on the Golen Engine website.

I'd recommend running a NSA rocker and 7/16 stud. I've run this setup for the last 3 years with no issues.
Scorpion 1026 1.7 NSA rockers
ARP 134-7103 studs
Trickflow tfs-30400623-8 guideplates
Trickflow 5/16 x .080 7.2" chromoly pushrods
Comp 26918 spring
Comp 787-16 retainer
Stock seats and locks*
* Use the Comp 648-16 lock with nsa rockers, I had ran 1.6 s/a Promags before, hence the stock lock.
I also had to clearance the guideplate a little at the bottom of the U, it was too close for me. My valve cover of choice was the 141-131 Proform / GM.
The only pulley set I'd recommend is the ASP 945103 ( dampner set ) along with a CSR ewp.

I had very good results with 1.6rr installed. There is proof that both 1.6 and 1.7 roller rockers make for a nice gain.
If you plan on a large cam you have to watch your lift and duration #s with the 1.7s moreso than the 1.6s ........

Okay thanks guys. Now my last question.

Is it worth spending over 600.00 to do the roller rockers?
what kind of gains will i see with a tune?

figure 20 RWHP on a generous side of things

600/20= 30 bucks Per Horse plus you would be ready for anything you want to do in the future.
