Default Ignition cylinder replacement....

Long story short, lost my only set of keys to my 93 z28. Had to get a replacement cylinder and key. Is swapping in a new ignition hard? Any thing I need to know before I tear off my steering wheel? Thanks in advance.

It's pretty straight forward. You will need a steering wheel puller and a lock plate removal tool you can rent both at most autoparts stores

First off thanks for the info, second what has me worried everywhere I've read it says you need the key for removal, which I dont have. Autozone told me id have to drill out the ignition. .

you can get it out without the key....it's not fun, but it can be done. The easy way is to have the key in the run position and it slides right out....there are little tabs holding it in place that you will not be able to get to while it's in the column IIRC. Consult a manual (haynes, chiltons, etc.) and it will give you specifics. Just make sure your new key has the same resistance chip in it that the old one had or the Pass-Key will not let the car start....
