Default Considering taking on a new project toy: 96 Ws6 for 4,700...should I? Picture inside.

Thinking about starting a new build with a new toy. Looking at a 96 Ws6 with 101k miles. It's a 6 speed hardtop. Only mod on it is a catback.

My plans would be to drive it and probably throw a 100 shot on it until the motor has enough. Then I'd like to start a supercharged 383 build.

*Edit: the only real problem the car has is a very very small oil seep at the oil pan gasket. It's about a drip every few days or so.
This is my only hesitation since I spent an entire winter on my back in a cold garage trying to seal up my last leaky lt1.

What do you guys think....good deal for the car?

in my opinion, that is good money for a stock car, so make sure it's all together and nothing is missing. That's about the max I'd say for a stock car. If it's got any issues, deduct accordingly. Also, since you're in the midwest, if it's rusty at all, just pass on it.

Blow hards on this board throw prices around about lts and how you should not pay more than 4 for them. At this point 75% of the 4thgen lt1's are trashed and in my book "un buildable" 5% are stored up and won't ever be on the market and the rest are out their bringing a premium price. A m6 hardtop ws6 sounds like a good combo, and is a good looking car. I say get him down to 4-4200 and make it yours. Clean cars are clean cars...

Thanks for the quick replies. The lowest he's going to go is $4,500. I almost wonder if I should just hold out until next year and try to pick up a project ls1 Ws6. I truly like the look of the lt1 version better than the ls1.

At $4,500, I'd grab it. As said above though, that's if you go over the car real good and it is indeed as clean as the pictures portray. Does it have any bonus SLP installed goodies on it?

That's a really hard choice I bought my z28 m6 for 3,000
And 61k miles.

I think that's a lot for an LT1 jmo

I kind of feel like it's a lot too. However, all of them in my area are selling at this price or more. This is the cheapest ws6 lt1 I've found.

Decisions decisions.

I got my Black 93 Z28 A4 180k miles for 2k (It was bought specifically to tear apart, clean body with a healthy running LT1), I'd say $4,500 is fair on an 96 M6 WS6 T/A with 101k miles.

Car looks clean, looks like new tires, don't see any body damage, its a ws6. All that plus a V8 motor is worth 4,500 to me, assuming of course the AC works.

95 z28. Yea I know its not a WS6 but its still an LT1. The car looks good though.

I just wouldn't buy it. I'm not an ls1 nut swinger but you can buy an ls1 in Cali for that much from a dealer. If its a project car which he stated I'm sure he's gonna wanna make big power and then what an extra 2k to dump the opti and better tuning? I'm just speculating. So don't kill me

But this guy is not in California, he's in Wisconsin. I live in Illiniois and in the midwest these cars that are solid and no rust just don't sell for much less than what he is looking at. I looked everywhere for a Camaro Z28 with t-tops and a 6 speed and could not find anything I thought was worth buying for less than 5k.

I see nothing wrong with paying 4500 for that car at all, that's a very fair price for a WS6.

I see what you're saying (I wash I could find an LS car for less than 6k by me), but the WS6 is 96-02, un-touched, no rust. I'd buy it and hang on to it for a few years (about 5).

I only wish it had t-tops. I will have to get used to that.

If I hold out for a diff one will I ever come across a better deal for a cleaner stock Ws6....?

My other option is a 95 Z28 auto trans with t-tops. Has a 355ci with 20k miles and runs perfect. I can get that one for $3,500
