Default Best fuel injectors for mild 383

Hi everybody, I'm finishing getting together the last bits and pieces to put my forged 383 with Ai 200cc stock ported heads and lunati voodoo 60122 cam together; since I'm adding more cubes, compression, and air-flow, seems like more fuel (bigger injectors) is in order. I was thinking 30lb injectors seem about right, whats the best brand to get? Ford red-tops? Keep the stock ones? Suggestions? Thanks

With a cam slightly larger and with the same heads I'm running 42# injectors. I'd recommend at least 36#s to allow for any future upgrades. 30#s would work, but going slightly bigger won't hurt.

True, it can't hurt to go a little bigger. What's everyone's thoughts on using cleaned, used injectors? Injectors don't usually go bad right? I'd rather save some $$ for my tune than spend $300-400 on injectors. I found these on ebay...cheap:

They do not usually go bad, but on a performance build I'd go with a new, flow-matched set. Not saying those wouldn't work, but I like the peace-of-mind that comes with having a matched set of injectors. Of course you can have a used set flow-matched, too.

Yes they can go bad, however if the cost justifies the means I would suggest getting them flowed before using them.

I'll be running a similar 396ci setup when Im done except I also ocassionally spray a 125 shot. Based on your BLMS, any idea what injectors I should go with? Would 42's work?

Wet or dry?

Honestly I'd ask some of the nitrous gurus.

If you are going wet- the size of injector is determined by what the motor requires N/A.

If you are going dry- then it depends on what size shot, and if you are going to spray more down the road.

Just out of curiosity what's the specs on your custom cam ? Those dyno numbers are pretty stout...ported intake too? I'd be thrilled to hit anywhere close to 450 whp with my similar setup in progress...Ai's website said 415-455 WHP is typical depending on the cam with these heads. I'm guessing my cam would put me somewhere in the middle.

It's a 237/242 .604/.598 on a 108 lobe under a ported stock intake manifold with a 58mm TB.

I should say that the cam has excellent street manners, so if you hesitant to err on the larger side, go for it.

This is good to hear, as I was a little worried about daily driving with the smaller lunati voodoo 60122....sounds like it won't be an issue. I'll probably stick with the 60122 for budget reasons since it's already in the motor, even if it costs 20 hp over a bigger cam.

I understand budget is a concern, but if you're going with the AI 200cc heads, you get a free custom grind.

I like to live by the phrase, "doesn't that make sense?"
