Car dies after 2000RPM! help

Car dies after 2000RPM! help car-93 z28 A4..140k... was driving yesterday never had a problem with the car,i had it in "1",i got on it, manually shifted to "2"..then got off the gas and let it rev out..rpms dropped it bogged out and it died..i started it up, it sounded fine then died when i hit the gas..now it starts but as soon as it hits 2000rpm exactly it dies with no bogging..opti may have gotten wet earlier in the day..there was a downpour here in michigan..but the problems didnt arise till 20 minutes after i hit "the ocean" of all puddles..fuel pump turns on ..any ideas..im desperate!
