Hard to say from pics, but guessing from you sig you have a ford 9 inch rear. My guess is a eaton posi, but again hard to say. Any other markings or numbers?

That's a gov-lock....stay away from it. Do a little research on it and you'll see what I mean.

Did they even make a gov-loc for a 7.5"?

I know they were used in trucks, I have a half ton crew and the gov-loc is the absolute worst feature on it, and mine still "functions" like new.

You dont want a locker either if you want your car to have any street manners

I thought the Gov-loc came in the 7.5 in the S-10. I could be wrong though.

I had a 9" for mine with a Detroit locker and call me a wuss if you want but it was a nightmare driving on the street. Felt like a wheel fell of everytime I made a turn. My wife wouldn't ride in it with me after that, scared her too much. I traded it after a few months to a guy for the 12 bolt.

Just some advice...If you don't like people staring at you like somethings broken in your car stay away from a locker in a dd. I have one in my 9'' and it annoys the hell out of me when other people just stare at you when they hear the constant, CRACK,CRACK,CRACK,CRACK, as you pull up to a gas pump or just make a turn around in a parking lot. Even at the race track I get asked what the hell is wrong with your car. I like the sound honestly but it costs too much for me to replace something that isn't broken.

Old post but I threw that g80 in andit actually did decent in 1.7 60's, only problem I had was you couldent do donuts or anything, soon as it started sliding sideways it kicked 1 wheel... I took it out and bought a trutrac and its a little noisy but I love it. Had multiple low 1.5s pulling the wheels and she's still holding! Is say pay the 500 and snag a trutrac and some motive 3.90s!

Thats a stock GM limited slip, you should slap the guy who said it was a Detroit locker. A good diff to buy would be a Detroit Truetrac, they last forever, dont require special fluids, engage every time you need it to and have great street manners.
