Default New to LT1 world

I recently just bought a LT1 trans am and Iam pulling the motor out to get it freshend up..... So I figured why not go with a heads cam intake setup... I was just trying to get a couple of options of what would be a good setup... Goals are to be mid to low 12s.... I dont want to stroke it at the moment.... any input is greatly appreciated

Lloyd elliot is a well known cam and heads package dealer, along with advanced induction.

I went with lloyd, and have been impressed with my setup.

They both make great setups and there is always a debate on who is better. You will most likely need supporting mods depending on which level of porting/cam you choose.

What do you mean "freshened up" a lot of guys have screwed up perfectly good motors by putting substandard quality parts in them.

If the car is stock it needs a lot of other mods before you need to worry about going inside the engine.

Once ready though good heads and cam can take a stock shortblock Caprice into the 11s with AC, ABS, power seats and all so don't set your goal so slow.

I'd put forged pistons and rods in it along with new rings & bearings then the heads and cam setup of your choice and get your intake ported and opened up for a 58mm tb. Then add all of the boltons under drive balancer, long tube headers and catback, LS1 lid or other cai, better clutch for m6 or stall for a4 and gears and finally a tune. this should put you in the 11's.
By the way I have some of the boltons you want for sale pm me or email me if you're interested. z24.turbo@gmail.com

Just call Lloyd Elliot and tell him what you want, easy as that.

Low to mid 12's isn't too hard to get to. A popular budget build is 30 over forged pistons, stock rods resized with ARP hardware, and stock crank all balanced. Get a quality converter, SFC's, LCA's and sticky tires...low 12's no problem.

I agree. Add a good valve job with some minor bowl work, the "503" and dip into the 11's.

When I say freshen up I mean motor pulled completely out torn all apart clean block hone or bore if needed new rings and bearings I actually was thinking about getting some hyperutectic pistons from Summit but I really dont want to get to involved with forged internals just basic heads cam and supporting mods honestly...I have a LS car already so i know what setups are good but never dealt with a LT and everyone I talk to says good look with the OPTI lol

Forged pistons at least if you plan on spraying it! Don't skimp on rebalancing! Head work and custom grinds to match your goals here -> http://elliottsportworks.com/

Those of us competent with a wrench don't have trouble with the opti.
