I have been tossing ideas on what to do with the LT1 in the C4 lately. It's a brand new rotating assembly with a cast steel crank, factory pistons, and forged rods with ARP rod bolts. It's got stock heads that are gasket matched to the intake, ported intake, stock throttle body, cc503 cam, longtubes, custom CAI. Last pass I made at the track was a 12.9 @ 111. I either bogged or couldn't get traction. My main question is, is it definitely a much better choice to stay N/A on the factory pistons or is it relatively safe to run low boost from a S/C. I want more out of the car and i think Lloyd Elliot heads will be much cheaper than a S/C setup and much safer... I mean I have always wanted a S/C setup but I don't want to be rebuilding the LT again anytime soon. What do you guys think?

If that cast steel crank is an Eagle I wouldn't do ANYTHING with the car other than pull it out and replace it. If that's not the case...
Truthfully you should be running bottom 12s easy with that trap speed. Before you give up on the car as it sits why not figure out your bogging/traction issue?

Whether you change the heads or put on a s/c, you'll probably want to swap out that cam. So unless you score a good deal on a used s/c kit, h/c will be cheaper and likely safer on a stock bottom end, especially since you upgraded the rod bolts it won't mind the extra rpm.
The thing is though, if you've always wanted a blower setup, you likely won't be happy until you throw one on the car. Nice thing is though is if you do the heads now and want to boost it later, it'll only make the car faster. Me personally, I'm a h/c n/a guy and I want to build a boost motor within the next year or so.

I dont see that cam being the issue. But if the engine is out to change out the crankshaft you might as well do it if you have the money. A boosted cc503 setup could work very well.
If its an eagle crank...good luck. I saw one snap in half and eagle said "...huh...thats interesting, we will sell you another one if you want"
