Z28/ trans am lt1 casting #'s???

Default Z28/ trans am lt1 casting #'s???

Hey guys i was at the local salvage yard and i came across what appeared to be a lt1 short block ($125) i looked on the back of the block for the casting numbers this is what i got???

Rear stamped: Gm 5.7l6 sgi 10125327
left/right side has stamped 327
up front top has stamped v0621whk by the timing chain cover

it would be a great if you guys can help me out and make sure this is a legit lt1 for a z28/ trans am not the caprice engine thx

That's an LT1 block.

yes, that is a LT1 block. the blocks where the same, it was the top ends that where different.

Ok change number 2 with a lil bit better light and the help of the wife this is the # 12125327 but to be on the safe side you guys said that only the top ends were diff?

Yes, that is an LT1 block.

Camaro/Firebird/Corvette LT1's have aluminum heads.
Caprice/Impala have iron heads.

and iirc the cam was slightly different between the iron headed and aluminum headed blocks

The cam was slightly different but by all accounts the b-body one made better lowend and in bolton form they make similar peak numbers which would seem to suggest if anything the f-body cam was the one compromised. Maybe to keep your POS axle alive.
