Default lt1 build

I have decided to build a lt1 but I am unfamiliar with the internals of the lt1 compaired to the first gen sbc. What do I need to know?

Short block wise it's basically a 1 piece rear main seal gen 1 sbc with a different timing set.

Many make the mistake of buying a aftermarket cast crank; if you are going to a 383 or larger buy a quality forged crank. Go here http://advancedinduction.com/ or here for the heads and cam http://elliottsportworks.com/.

I vaguely remember reading something about a ball bearing that is in the vicinity of the distributor driveshaft hole. If you neglect to put it back in its rightful place you apparently won't get any oil pressure when you start the motor. I'll see if I can find my LT1 book and I will repost if I am wrong.
