Default C5 brake upgrade. Need help

Okay guys i recently did the C5 brake upgrade on my 95z28.

Everything went together great BUT the brakes feel really spongy at times and dont seem to have much more stopping power then the stock brakes did.

I bled the system correctly multiple times and sometimes they feel great but other times they feel like crap. I am using steel braided LT1 lines for the time being and was wondering if this might be the problem. I know the LT1 lines are a little short but not sure what that should matter.

any ideas?

I remember someone saying something in the past about the LT1 master cylinder not being sufficient enough for the Vette calipers. Whether or not that's true I have no idea - just something to look into.

1) make sure your brake calipers are installed with the bleeder screws on top as you can install them the wrong way
2) do a gravity bleed on each caliper, start with the closest one first to make sure you get the majority of the air (Driver side is probably good enough)
3) bleed rest as normal.

The here and there pedal probably more air in the system, so need to get it out first. I run c5 brakes with the lt1 lines, no issues for years.

There's air in the system for sure. And FYI Brakemotive have nice rotors for very good price for C5. I run them on 3 of my cars with hawk pads.

What pads are you using with your C5 brakes out of curiousity OP? If you had nice pads on your stock calipers and then went with say a parts store brand pad that may be the reason for decreased performance.

Air in system. I autocross my car and I did the C5 swap with SS lines and Hawk pads about 6 years ago and it was truly a night and day difference in braking pedal, fade, and stopping power. What kind of brake pads are you using?

It must be air in the system somewhere, if not in the lines, then possibly in the master cylinder? Try bench bleeding the master cylinder, then gravity bleed the lines.

$25 raybestsos rotors have worked fine for me. I have a set in the shed from a trackday that have a blue/purple heat line on them and they have no cracks or warpage on them.

I have the Exact same problem! and i know its not my ABS block because thats deleted. I Know i bled the system properly and my brakes are in good shape. I moved onto the master cylinder. Mines original with 185k hard miles on it. Im going to bench bleed it and then rebleed all the lines. Hopefully then that will sure the issue.

take the two lines that exit the MC and put them inside the MC reservoir. Then you pump the MC with a screwdriver to get all the air out of it.

Then disconnect the lines you used for bleeding and hook up your regular lines.

That's my guess.
M/C is sufficient for C5 calipers.

You might still have air in the system. Ive been doing alot of research and i know that my M/C might have a mechanical problem and that my entire system has air in it. Give it a shot properly bleeding the system and see if that helps.
