Price of LT1 F-Bods beginning to rise?
So I was at this dealer the other day and he had three 1989-1993 Corvettes all for $13,000 each. Then he had an LT1 WS6 Ram Air T/A for $16,999. Mint. So I took a look around and notice that you used to be able to get LT1s for really cheap $3000-$4000 for a rust-free nice car. Now I see the same cars starting at over $6000 unless you want a junker.
Anyone noticed this? Are the days of the ultra-cheapo LT1 builder over?

I still see cheapo lt1's going for 2k that need there share of lots of work but still show ok and are drivers. For ultra clean mint cars your gonna pay more. Me personally if I were to sell mine I wouldn't take anything less the 7k. And that's bottom dollar looking to move it

Supply and demand. Most cars for less than 5k are junk around here. Sometimes I see nice lt1 in the 6-7k and a few in the 9-13. But I would not pay more than 5k for an lt1 when you an get a ls1 for 2k more. But then again I don't even like LS front ends unless it os a TA.

I have mine for sale for $7900 right now. I consider it an extremely clean car, pretty low miles for a 14 yr old car (63k). It's been for sale a few weeks now, getting some interest in it but no takers yet. I know it would sell quicker in the $5-6k range but I'm not letting it go for that low with a 12 bolt that's worth $2k alone. If it doesn't sell at this price I'll probably swap in a 10 bolt and remove some bolt ons and get it closer to stock. I really see very few lt1's on the road around here, mainly just v6's and 98-02's.

you think thats a crazy jump, check out irocs and GTA's.
I love those cars, hard to find one for under 4k now, and they are slow and old, most have alot of miles on them too.
LT1 vettes have always been pricey, but i think they are actually comming down and the WS6 and SS lt1 fbodies are going up in price. Base model trans am and z28's are where they have always been in my eyes.

I think the bottom of the market for the lt1s was this past fall/winter. I got my car for 3k last September and it was really clean/tastefully modded. Now the car would probably be selling for at least 5k in my area.

what people are asking and what they are actually selling for are two different things. I'd say I've been watching CL for the last two or three years and can tell you the guys asking top dollar, some cars are still for sale 2-3 years later.
I don't think there is anything wrong with paying 5k or more for a well cared for car, no rust, etc.
And go to a dealer, how many cars are they selling that are missing things, wires hanging out, different seats/panels, etc. I see so many cars for sale that are "perfect except for 3 small things" Well fix them
here's a decent priced car in chicago 3k

I looked up the value of mine just for the heck of it. 97 Formula in pretty good shape, runs great, 95,xxx miles. Private party value was $2,800. I would light the thing on fire before I sold it for that. I want an M6 eventually, might end up being more cost effective to swap it.
