Battery Relocation
Hey guys. What kits are you guys running to relocate your batteries to the spare tire compartment? I want to buy everything at once and try not to piece it together. Also, am I going to catch **** at the track if I do not have a kill switch in the berger panel?

What ever you do you need a sealed box for the battery with an outside vent. Careful with the kill switch. A regular single pole switch is going to allow the alternator to run the engine with the switch off. According to the rules it has to quit when the switch is off. This switch or one like it makes it easy.

Alot of people run the BMR relocation crate. But thats for sealed batteries like an optima. I fabricated my own but its up to what you want to do. as for everything else i ran #2 welding wire (IIRC) to the junction box in the engine bay and #4 wire to the alternator and starter. I also ended up running a #2 ground cable to the engine itself to aid in grounding. On the ground by the battery i have a 200 amp circuit breaker thatll trip if ever theres a short.
As for your second question. im not 100% sure but i think some places might give you a hard time if you dont have a kill switch.

No one makes a 100% kit. Build your own. I used 1/0 stereo wire off of ebay, bought 25 feet I think. Moroso blue box and a summit push off kill switch. Terminal ends from napa. Some 4 gauge for misc engine grounds and to run from starter post to the junction block. Simple stuff man.

I used a plastic boat battery box in one car an expensive as hell aluminum box in another and mounted the battery under the floor in another. The "under the floor" idea is good if there is room. Welded up some angle iron for the holder. Made a lid out of aluminum and some 1/4 turn fasteners. It's a tad hard to get the battery in and out but it's a good place for it.

I did my own, not a kit though I pieced it together. Bought an aerospace rear fender well bracket, the rest came from Home Depot. Do not discount the need for extra grounds, is my huge 'learn' from that experience. Fought issues due to lack of grounds after I relocated the battery. All is well now, no issues...100% glad I did it. Also, do not put too much substance in the whole vent to the outside...kill-switch etc unless you will be racing in NHRA ruled events where they check that kind of thing. I do not have either of those in my car and have been racing it for years.
