I am not familiar with the underside of a 4th gen, I would expect the factory tank harness to main harness weatherpak to be accessible with the tank in though. I know on the b-bodies it is. Then again putting the whole racetronix kit in a b-body is I would say under a 2 hour project easily for a handy first timer.

^^ What he says. On a B-body, the RaceTronix harness plugs into the factory tank harness at the back of the tank. You'll need to go look for the factory harness back at the tank. You should see a gray weatherpack connector with a blue or green tab lock on it very close to the tank. If you do, you'll probably be good to go just 'plugging and playing' w/o dropping the tank. The harness connector may be up the side of the tank, and dropping it just makes things easier.

Like Capricemgr, I've only installed these harnesses on B-Bodies, but it was a pretty easy install on them. The biggest issue is deciding how to run the harness from the front of the car to the back. I ran mine inside the frame, but it runs the full length on a B-body.

If it plugs directly to the fuel pump then yes, the tank must come out. If it connects to the fuel pump harness then it is easily assessable. The harness and plug is located on the drivers side just in front of the axle underneath the car.

The Racetronix harness interfaces with the factory fuel pump connector near the driver side rear tire.

Short version - you can add the harness without removing the pump.

Much appreciated Joe. Just walked down to the shop and saw the interface. They put my T56 back in so it's still up on the lift. Another panic attack averted.

Interesting fact to remember. If you already carry fuses in your car than disregard, but I've popped the fuse once and it left me stranded. Had AAA so no biggie, go it towed home and then remembered the fuse. Now I carry fuses in the car.

I don't know if my alternator spiked or what, has only happened once.

The pump might of drawn to much amperage with dirty connectors from the wires and a fuse that might not of been 100%

OP as stated youll be fine. Pulling the tank from the bottom im sure was a crazy job. How come you didnt do the trap door method?

I needed a brand new tank. The fuel that was sitting in their for over 10 years destroyed the inside of the tank. It was all pitted.
New tank:

It plugs in at that black connector that's top left of the differential.

Just make sure you be careful how you route that harness up to the alternator. When i put mine in i was having issues where my Track Pack style torque arm relo bar was actually pinching the harness and making it cut out. I also put in a breaker inline to replace the fuse so if the fuse ever did blow then the you have the safety of it just resetting and your on your way again no AAA towes!!! Ive learned my lessons this year after dealing with those two issues!

Is there any reason you shouldn't run the Racetronix Wiring Harness with a stock fuel pump? Would it work? Just wondering because I have the Racetronix kit and a new, stock fuel pump. I'm thinking about holding off on installing the Walbro pump that came with their kit.

Think of the harness as the electrical equivalent to intake and exhaust mods.
