Default Cat question.

My mom is freaking out about me getting lts because she dosent want to go through the trouble getting it inspected. So, can I get a custom y-pipe installed with some high flow cats on it? Will that make it pass. I'm 17 btw, so that's shy she is on my case about it :/

First what state are you located in, and you'll need to find out the details on smog checks in your area.
You could always wait until after you get it smoged, then install the LT headers.

There are manufacturers that make dual catted ORYs (I think Kooks makes one) but they're absurdly expensive and moving the cats from the stock location is a failure of the visual inspection. The driver's side cat sits dangerously close to the fuels lines so you'd have to reroute those. Also, having cats in your exhaust system is going to rob you of 5+ at the wheels.

Find out the regulations in your county.

I live in Harris county. It says all gasoline powered vehicles are exempt from emissions. Does that mean I'm in the clear?

Harris county is a PITA! I live in Austin and they are bad here too. But really as long as your car is not throwing any codes you should pass with no issues. So just poke around for someone in your area who can program out the emissions codes from your computer and you will have nothing to worry about.

I dont know where you get that idea but Harris county you have to pass the test NOT exempt from taking it , OBD1 has to pass the sniffer and OBD 2 they just do a scan so OBD 2 can just tune out the code for cats
