Default Waterpump Driveshaft Seals...discontinued

EDIT: I do not believe they are discontinued, must have been an error by the parts guy. The discontinued parts were Impala SS headgaskets.

So my engine is torn apart right now. I'm putting it back together, ordered up gaskets and seals.

12553792 Water Pump Driveshaft Seal has been discontinued.

What do I do? Can I reuse the originals? I've done a search on the Auto Zone website, and don't find anything.

I know Fel-Pro makes a front cover gasket kit that has that seal in it. Not sure of the part# though.

I purchased the Fel-pro kit from O'reilly Auto Parts, it's part number TCS45956, and it's line $10.

Man, see I wanted to get all GM stuff, they have everything else, except for these two. They're only $1.50 each. Now, I may have to spend the money on this kit.

About 6 months ago I went to the dealer hoping to purchase the original type pump shaft seal which has the spring around it IIRC. They had the seal under the OE part number but it was the Fel Pro seal by itself just like what you get in the timing cover seal kif from Autozone etc. They also wanted $15.00 for the seal alone.

It appears that the Fel Pro seal is the only remaining seal for us.

The stealership told me they're reaching out the the "Discontinued parts warehouse" and will get the seals for me from there. I may call them to tell them to forget about it.

Those are the drive shaft o-rings. Maybe they are lagging behind, but I just now looked at three different online GM part sources and none of them show them discontinued.

BTW, the Felpro set is the most economical way to get all the cover seals.

They look like a C/R or National brand seal. Take to an industrial seal or bearing supplier and they can match it up. Or measure the shaft size, OD and width of the seal and look it up on their web site.

Keep in mind, GM doesn't make the seals themselves, they contract it out to Fel-Pro, National, Timken, etc......

I just saw a video of someone replacing the seal. The original seal has the part number which I couldn't read. If you have an original, please post the part number.

I had somewhat the same situation as wrd. I messed up the seal from the felpro kit and called the dealer for just the seal, they wanted $19. The kit from Napa for me was $8 with my student tech discount.. The part number for the seal it self is 10217886. That was the number off my original. (94 Formula)

If AC doesn't have one then lmk. I should have a brand new one somewhere laying around. Don't need it with an EWP, but the kit is still the best way to get the timing cover gasket and seals.

The o-rings he is talking about are too small to have a part number on them.

I assumed he was talking about the water pump drive " lip" seal. O-rings can be found anywhere. The original lip seal with the number 10217886 stamped on it seems to have been made for GM by National. It can be matched by the dimensions.

Yeah, I'm kinda pissed I didn't just go with the Fel-Pro kit. I guess I'm a bit of a brand *****. Yes, I know Fel-Pro is high quality. That's my bad. Now I'm just wasting time and it's getting cold out quick.

the discontinued parts turned out to be Impala SS headgaskets not these o-rings. Parts guy quoted the wrong part number.
