Question Do they make spray on BBQ paint?

I'm painting my headers and I have brush paint I was gonna use, do they make spray? Which is better?

Do yourself a favor and don't put anything but professionally-applied CERAMIC COATING on them. Regardless of whatever "high heat paint" you put on there it will eventually chip, peel, crack, and discolor.

I agree with RamAir95TA it will eventually come off and look like crap again, but if you are gonna paint em the grill paint is probably the best to use. I've seen it at advance auto, walmart and home improvement stores.

yeah they make spray. I actually didn't know they made a brush on. I don't know which would be better maybe you could do one header with each and test it out lol. I haven't actually tried it, but i have tried the more traditional header paint and high heat engine paint and neither one really works all that well.

Find a local powder coater and ask them about ceramic coating. My local place has ceramic powder coating and they quoted me only like $60 to do it!

The only decent header paint is POR20 high temp. That is some wicked bad *** paint. Google it.

I have used BBQ spray paint on the exhaust system but not on headers. Headers you not only want to protect from rust you want to protect other components from radiant heat which is where ceramic coatings come in, that or stainless steel which radiates less heat than mild.

VHT makes hi heat spray ons.
You will have to clean the components real well so the paint stays on but, it will chip when you smack the parts around.
Touch ups are easy though.

If I can find a ceramic powder coat for cheap ima do that. but other wise I'm going to rough up the headers with sand paper and it sounds like por 20 is the good stuff. Ive used por 15 and that stuff is great, so por 20 temp paint is probably the cats *** ! Any auto dealers sell it, like advanced, summit, auto zone,Ive only found online dealers.

Rather than sand I would look at sand blasting.

Some high heat paints will work ok for a while as said before. Its just prepping the metal for it. Most people half *** sanding the old paint off, its a pita on headers.

checkers/o'rielys and pep boys sell the vht flameproof, not sure if autozone carries it or not

me and a buddy have both used the flameproof and we've both been quite impressed by it.

a lot of good reviews online. for the price i'd say it's worth it, just make sure you prep it well!!!!!

If I was you Id do myself a favor and send them out to get ceramic coated. Paint may look good at first but later will discolor, chip and rust. As said b4 the ceramic will help with heat.

Might find it useful to look at the location for the posters giving advise and compare their climate to yours.

I live in Wisconsin and in my experience even ceramic coatings will allow some rust but will still offer a fair bit of protection and slow the cancer substantially.
