97 ss TUNING?!?!
OK guys, here in albuquerque where I live there really isn't any good tuners for LT1's.
Nobody really knows how to tune um properly.
I know of a Couple GREAT LS1's tuners here (solid-tech), they use HP tuners and FAST (along with full EMS's).
I know that TUNERCATZ is usually what can be usued for LT1's but as far as i know it doesnt work with 97's
i know about mail orders also,m pcmforless, madz28, fastchips... ect...
I dont wanna go that route because i think a local tuner could get more out of it because they are actually here.
I think the ELEVATION 5000ft~, and the DA (density altitude) usually is 7600ft+ in fall, spring and 9000ft~ in the summer
would affect the tune Dramaticallyto where a mail-order wouldnt take that into consideration....BUT im not a tuner so IDK
So my question(s) I guess are,
WHat can be used for tuning it?
How far can i go with this tuning option?
And would the LS1 Guru's here in town be able to use this?
any info helps.
(p.s.- used the search button, nothing but dead ends)

Find a 94-95 PCM from anything those years that had an LT1 in it and convert it to ODB1. You can then use Tunercat or Tunerpro to tune the car. You will also need the Tunercat winflash program to flash the car threw the diag port. Your car has an ODB2 port so you will have to convert to ODB1 and repin. I use a Moates Autoprom for tuning and have an ODB2 cable that I flash ODB1 cars with.
