Default Another Lt1 Down

Well after just 600 miles my junk yard engine failed out on me. Oil pressure is way low to my mechanical Gauge.

Pressures running 10w30 oil
Cold Idle- 48 psi
Cold Rev to 3500rpm- 60 Psi
Warm Idle- 6 Psi
Warm Wot to 5500rpm- 48 Psi

Look likes its time to pull the engine once again. Maybe its time to let the car sit for another couple of years. Its been down since Febuary 2009 so whats a couple more years. Only owned this car since April 2008. Maybe its time to swap to a ls engine. Just venting as this car has ate every dollar I ever made.

Has the pressure changed recently to the above readings. They might not be optimal, but unless you are hearing deathly noises, it does not mean it is done. It will probably last a while longer if you don't abuse it (stay away from extended WOT).

My first lt1 car had low pressure like that. Switch to 10w-40 and keep driving it. Mine lived at that pressure for over 10000 miles before I sold it.

Sorry to hear that, that's one reason I always rebuild my junk I just don't trust any engine I don't know anything about.

Yeah, I was in a crunch when I bough this motor. My rebuild had just blown up thanks to a melling oil pump that was 140 miles old. Ended up dropping the motor in and the t-56 gave out. So now 18 months later its sitting with a blown motor. I did hear the same low oil metal on metal noise that another lt1 I knew made right before it spun a bearing. As soon as I was looking at my mechanical gauge and it said 6 psi I herd that noise and cut the car off. Looking into rebuild options right now. Really do not want to build another lt1. Sucks as everything on this motor is brand new.
