Fudge fudge fudge!
Just so you guys Know a Moroso Billet oil pump does NOT work with a Canton 242t pan. So I either need a new pan or oil pump.
What do you think I should Do? Cant ship either back since I clearanced the pan for the billet main caps and the pump for the main studs. Either way looks like a few hundo down the drain until I sell one or the other.

Nope The pump and pick up is basically a solid unit and the pan just isnt deep enough. No where in the directions or description says that online. The box of the pump has a sticker on it saying it needs a 8.25 inch deep pan which I didnt see until it was to late. SO I need a 8.25 inch deep pan or a new pump. God damn pan was 320ish and the pump was 350 +shipping. I cant find a pan with the low oil sensor that will work either.

A cheaper pan is from KEVKO he will weld in the level sensors, and Im sure he will adjust the depth for you for little to no cost, hell he might even modify your pan.
I know I had him install a windage tray and crank scrapers into a stock pan and it was like $50.00. Great guy and easy to work with.

all you need to modify is the square section. cut it across the back and sides. bend the front of the panel down so its sloped then flatten it out and make a filler panel.

The problem with making it deeper is that part of the pan will sit lower than the crossmember, thus if you hit anything in the road you risk ripping open the pan/breaking off the oil pump.
The design from the factory is that the crossmember is the lowest point. As long as nothing else sits lower you are good.
Of course others don't listen and do just that, and in a drag racing only app you may get away with it, but on a street car, it is just stupid to do so.

Hey:
Well, since its a street driven car the only real option is dump the pump.
If it was a drag only car mod the pan is the solution. It is not that hard to do to get it right, just take it to somebody you trust or send to KEVKO after you talk to him on the phone and get a firm price on the extra cost.
Good luck on whatever you decide.
