Dyno vs Mail Order Tune
Hello guys,
I'm going to pull my new 383 due to some issues with the motor. The cam is very mild and I'd like to replace it with something more agressive while it's out. The car was dynoed when it was tuned, but that was when the car was in Florida. Up here in Delaware, I couldn't find anyone local that does older LT1 dyno tunes. How close would a mail order tune be? Obviously the dyno is better, but just wanted to see how far off the mail order tune would be and who I should use. The car needs to pass a sniffer test too. Any suggestions for an LT1 tuner in this area are welcomed.
Thanks,
Tony

The car runs good.....put down 360 to the wheels.....you just can't drive it cause of the issues.

Thats what I was kind of figuring. Hopefully I can do a mail order tune upfront, then find someone that will dyno this car.

PCM4Less did my tune and I immediately had it put on a dyno to check the A/F ratios. It was spot on actually and didn't need any mods at all. That's not always the case though but I'd say a mail order tune can be a good starting point and if the A/F's are off or you are disappointed in the numbers you can always still get a dyno tune after.

Is your car still a chipped car, by looking at your sig I would guess you still have a 93 computer and Bryan at pcmforless does not tune chipped cars or at least the last time I asked him about doing my old LT1. Alvin from pcmforless does dyno tunes. We got both of them to come to a dyno day a few years ago and do some tuning, but I think Alvin still does cars down in North Carolina at his shop.
