Default How good it the stock LT1 radiator?

Hey Guys i'm swapping a gen1 400 sbc into my 95 camaro and need to know if the stock radiator will be sufficient.

The motor will be 427ci with 235cc heads
296/300 duration cam
should make about 650hp at the crank

And this will be in a street car so keeping it cool in the nevada heat is a BIG concern.

Hmmmmm. Thats a lot of engine. If it were me I would try the LT1 radiator but plan on a custom aluminum with Electric fans. Is it a track car or a street car? A/C ???

The LT1 radiator should be sufficient. But always prepare for the worst so go ahead and budget for a custom radiator.

LT1 rad will be plenty fine for that engine, just make sure you use a good pump.

There are half filled boosted LT1s making more then that to the tires on the stock radiator.

I know its kind of off subject and doesn't help much but from my understanding the lt1 radiator is an upgrade if installed in a ls1 car. I may be mistaken though.

Mine cracked from age last year and I asked the same question and got the same answers. The stock is plenty. I went with another stock one.

I am not sure how good the radiator is, but I do know that gen 1 400 sbc run hot due to the siamesed cylinders with no water jacket between them. Just keep an eye on it

I run the LT1 Radiator with my 408 in my 84 MCSS, and I crammed one in my 1991 LS1 S10..IMO its a damn good Radiator.

Sounds like you're just mad that it's not yours....

OP even with a siamese bore the LT1 radiator should be plenty. X2 on wanting to see this done. Good luck with the project.

Alright now that is enough!!!! NO ONE cares who has the thickest one.... comparing them is just immature.
