Rocker Arm Recall?
Found out that there was a recall on LT4 rocker arms (Crane units I believe). Today a mechanic told me that GM also recalled some of the later LT1 rockers. After some research I haven't found any info. Has anyone here heard anything?

The LT4 GM(Crane-manufactured) rockers are different from the GM(Crane-manufactured) LT4 HOT CAM rockers. They have the same bodies, but the LT4 rockers originally installed in the Vettes are non-adjustable 8mm stud rockers.
I have been running the non-adjustable 8mm LT4 rockers on my HOT cam since 1998 with hundreds of strip passes and thousands of miles without a failure.

Secondly, LT1s were not factory equipped with roller rockers, so the Crane recall wouldn't apply, and as far as I know, there were never any recalls for the "regular" rockers. I'm the original owner of a '96 Z-28, and I never received any recall notices for rocker arms...

There are alot of recalls and TSb that do close and u are **** outta luck. I pulled rockers off a 96 lt4 gran sport motor that came in for a crate engine, i snagged the rockers bought new GM studs torqed them down to 20 ft lb went to the track gained .2 tenths and they have been there for 6 years and countless 6 k runs. But thats just me, i did hear rumors of trunion problems but never saw a case of it. Just my .02

No, he's not going to be an a**hole for wanting his car fixed, before something MAJOR happens. But 15 years after the car was built/sold, is going to be a tough sell to any dealer. Keep in mind, over that time frame, both GM, as well as Crane Cams, went BK then re-organized. I hignly doubt that they'll be honoring any claims from their preious business status.

Thank u lol , gotta love how people know how a dealership runs or how a car manu runs . It's a recall not a hey swing in and we can fix it if it is this time frame .

LOL... I wonder how far the owner had to go before the dealership caved.

They didn't even bring the car in for the recall. Their local guy had snapped a carb stud off flush with the intake and told them to take it to the dealer. I was easy-outing the broken stud when one of the old timer mechanics came over and had a look at the car. He noticed it didn't have the engine restraint cable on and said I should check if the recall was still open. I couldn't run the vin because the system was designed with 17 digit numbers in mind but a quick call to GM confirmed the recall was still open and they sent parts to us overnight to take care of it.
