Default obd-1 and hi-stall guys

Just a fast question for anybody with a 3600 or higher stall running obd-1. You guys have any troubles with hitting stall wall after tuning?

Did you guys do anything special for the tune to run a 4k stall ? Self tuned or did you use a tuner?

Mine did the "no 1-2 shift" the first time I launched with a 3400 TC.
Bryan (pcmforless) was at the track and fixed it for me.
I've never even looked what the fix was. VSS error I believe.

Yeah, you need to raise the VSS up above your stall speed. I think mine is at 4000.

yup mine did the same thing when i had my 355 and my 4000 stall.......ecm see such a rapid change in rpm with sucha a low VSS input and it thinks the trans is slipping......its reaction is to go into limp mode which does the afformentioned no 1-2 shift and default max line pressure........Brian H at PCM for less can fix it he did it for me also back in the day.....

It is actually the stall Delta. If the PCM see's 4k+ and the car is not showing VSS then it goes limp and will not shift till you lift from WOT. Once you lift it goes Limp 3rd gear with a VSS code

It took a long time to chase down and Ed Write was the one that finally did it for me.

That's because Ed has parameters in tuner cat that most people don't have.

My tuner cat doesn't have it, but tuner pro does.

I've seen other people's version of TC and some have it and some don't.

Stall wall? Can someone explain this to me? I've got a 93 z28 speed density and I'm about to install a 3600 TC, is there something that needs to be done or some kind of problem?

I don't believe this is applicable to a 93, only the later electronic valvebody trannies.

When swapping in a Turbo 400 into one of these cars you dont have a VSS. Does that do anything to the computer for the engine? What can you do to get around this situation?

If your swapping in a non-computer controlled tranny then you dont have to worry about it. This is only for people with 4l60e's+obd1

Hey Ellis... I've sent you a PM. I haven't posted here since 2008 but I'm still alive and have a question about some repairs on another car (not a muscle car unfortunately).

When I switched to a TH400 with Brake I did not have to do anything. But mine is a reverse manual valve body TH400 though. Although my builder was able to take the speed gear off my 60E and bore it and drill a hole for the speed sensor on the tail shaft and line them up so the speedo would work. Works great.

I guess I have it good then as my car is a 93 that had an M6 in it. Thanks for the answers.
