Default Dual Exhaust Routing

What have you guys done as far as routing the exhaust systems when running a true Dual Exhaust system on these Gen 4 LT1 Cars? Post photos if you have them!

I am about to install a set of Long Tube Headers and there really isn't too much room under there so I am looking for routing ideas. This will be a 99% Track Car and not a daily driver.

Is it best to keep the system at 2.5"?

The brand of headers makes a big difference since the collectors are over 3" tall and your tubing is only 2.5"...quality headers like Kooks will always have better ground clearance over cheaper brands. I dont remember the specifics but I think 2.5" duals are fine up to somewhere around 600hp

If you run the tubing side-by-side, a good exhaust builder can make it fit in the tunnel - this is a LS1 car but same floorpan. The lowest points in order are the airdam, oil pan, then the AR headers...

Oh, and thats a 3" system - a 2.5" system should be able to be tucked even better and higher

I think these cars should have been designed with true duals, it's just AMERICAN MUSCLE LIKE! I did the under axle style many years ago w/pacesetters. Some people talk crap about it since it is NOT mandrel bent however it makes NO difference in performance at our level it's more for looks.

The Y pipe design isn't really a constriction at all until you're really making some power.

Personally from what I saw with my car the headers made the difference. Duals were on my car about 3 months before I did the headers.
Longtubes
X pipe
1.6rr
Tune
4.10s
I went from 13.9 to 12.9 if I had installed a real clutch instead of of the autozone replacement crap!I would have done better........

No Y-Pipe sounds better than true duals IMO

That is true duals, the x pipe is designed for scavenging. Does change the sound a lot....

lt1slowz28, its in College Station but the owner lives and works in the dfw area. I de-modded his car and the performance parts are in my garage. Keep in mind it fits ls1 longtubes so unless you have Edelbrock victor series lt's, the driver side will need to be modified slightly. PM me if you want more pics, price, etc
