Default Can someone please school me on the Vats system

When i got the car my brother in law lost the door key, i just called to get a price quote for a key and since it has the VATS system its gonna cost me 375.00. Can someone help me out here

There is a way to bypass the VATS. Do a search. If memory serves, you use a .15 cent resistor from radio shack.

Here's what you need. Just get a plain key cut and wire in the proper resistor after you test and find out what value yours needs.

The door key shouldnt have a chip in it, and has nothing to do with the Vats. The door key should have a round end, and the ignition key should have a square end with a small black chip in the part that goes into the ignition

Door key doesn't have **** to do with VATS. If you have one to copy, it should cost $5-$10. If you don't have one, you can go get raped by the dealer for $30-$40 since they can cut off the VIN #.

Take proof of ownership to the dealer and they can make you a door key from the VIN#.
