Default LS1 Roller, LT1 Motor and Electrical = No Start

K this car belongs to son kid I know... He purchased a 98 Camaro Z28 Roller And installed a LT1 Complete from 97Engine, 94Engine harness, 94Body Harness, 94CPU But all it does is cranks, starts for a couple of seconds then shuts off. I think it maybe the vats but what do you all think? Think He should send the CPU to have the VATS removed or you guys think the problems else where?

Sounds like VATS fuel disable to me and it would be perfectly logical if he is using the ignition key from the 98 with computer from a 94.

Delete vats or get the proper vats setup for the computer.

Are you using the 94 steering column/ignition cylinder and 94 BCM?

EDIT: Reread your post. If it starts and then immediately dies, it could be any number of things. Start checking the regular stuff.

Since it's a 97 engine and 94 harness, which year ICM and coil are you using?

Could be a problem with the PCM too. I fried mine once flashing it myself when the battery blew up. When I tried to start it up after that, it would do the same thing you've described.

With that said, I'd disable VATS first like everyone has suggested. Its by far the easiest, cheapest, and most likely problem.
