Any tips on changing a starter on a auto LT1 F Body
Well the car I asked about earlier has the snout of the starter cracked off. It is a auto Fbody with a LT1. It is stopping at the Y pipe. Any trick on a way to get it off besides taking that thing off. Thanks

Mine was welded at the Y and I eventually had to cut it. I was, however, able to disassemble the starter while it was still up there between the car and the exhaust and was able to slip it out. I don't know how far that'll get you or if you could get a new one in the same way, I wouldn't really recommend it. Do a search on here, some people were able to unbolt the trans lines and move them out of the way and barely squeeze it out and back in, I couldn't figure out how to do that. You may really need to twist it just the right way it can take a really long time to find how. Good luck.

On a auto, I wish. It is not fitting thru the stock Y pipe and the trans lines. I heard that they take 10 mts to change one in a 6 speed car though. If I am overlooking something please let me know

I HAD to take the y pipe off of mine when my starter went out, couldnt find any other way around it (this was before i had headers)..Thankfully i have connections and could put it on a lift,so it wasn't too bad at all..Previous owner had a damn duralast starter on it..
