Thats sounds 100% perfect.
Why are you running 10W30?
5W30 is usually ideal for our motors.

5w-30 is recommended because of CAFE not because it is best. That is NOT to say 10w-30 is better or worse. In some brands 10w-30 is thinner at operating temps than 5w-30 or 0w-30.

30weight is a RANGE not a specific measurement.

That said 22psi is PLENTY for a smallblock to idle, they really don't need much pressure.

Pretty good at idle & 10psi per 1000rpm is what you need on oil pressure So at 6000rpm youll need 60psi

Also with my smaller cam swap before pulling the motor and changing cam an what not to a bigger one they both seem to stay at 2 or 2100 rpm an not want to idle down when driving it what could that be bad tune? An I haven't had it tuned yet for this cam. I am using the same tune as I was for my cc502 cam untill I get it dyno an no I'm not going to be driving it alot or if anything just had to road test it today

really an antiquated notion, engine does not need that much pressure.

50-60psi will still let you turn some rpms.

very misleading my friend ..........oil depends on how the engine was clearanced......for a stocker yes 5w/30 is the reccomened but for a rebuilt motor it is TBD

thats the general rule of thumb........for extreme performance applications, no, but as a general rule of thumb yes

why? do not do this.......common misconception is that an engine needs to "wear" or "break" in......the only things to break in are the rings.......the rest of the motor does not........run the same viscoity oil you will normally run thicker oil is useless and not good if the pressure gets TOO high......not to mention its ability to flow into bearing clearances is reduced espcially if the motor was clearanced tightly........this is like the "oh the metal shavings in the oil are normal on start up just change the oil within 20 minutes".......there should be NO debris at ANY time in the engine......not one of my brand new engines have ever had any debris on first startup in the oil i took out of them.....

absolutly i idle mine at 20psi and at 8200 rpm i have a mere 50psi........and on the last inspeciton my bearings looked like brand new after two years of 8000+rpm abuse.....less pressure = less power wasted spinning the pump
