Filed a police report, they said it is a felony. The people who did it are kids.

To be honest what really sets me off is the convertible top, I just am pissed beyond words. I'm parking the car and not looking at it for a while as I am trying to get my drag car running this summer.

The problem I see is because of the amount of scratches on the paint any body shop may tell you the only way it will look right is if the entire car is painted.

I live like 25 minutes from where this happened. This was out next to the machine shop I use. I don't know any of the other people that live there. I'll get to meet them in court I suppose.

I'm not accusing anyone, the police officers talked to the neighbors and got a witness and a confession or two. I guess they stole some stuff from the neighbor's garages and got caught with that.

I know that convert tops are not cheap.

depending on how many miles are on your car, it may be totaled.

Yeah paints not cheap 1200 bucks for my bumper and head light buckets. I was quoted 5500 for a complete paint job.

Does the whole car need to be painted? If so, your looking at least 5000 bucks for a nice job. See if you can get insurance to cover 70% of that or so, and sue for the rest of the money. I don't know about 1200 bucks for a bumper though..thats just retarded and a ripoff. It was 400 bucks for my bumper, 300 for the hood, and $500 for both front fenders.

I'd have no problem pulling my gun out to get things settled if need be. Usually when you pull a gun on someone, they will pay.

If insurance doesnt cover the damages, i would personaly learn body work and do it myself.

That seems fairly high with paint. But I guess it's different in different areas. I had my front bumper, left fender and right rear quarter painted for $750. The shop I took mine too (which was a highly recommended and turned out to be a great paint job) charges around $250 for any panel. But of course a week later a guy backs into my rear bumper and left quarter. Insurance quoted it at $1090 in damage just to get the small dent out of the quarter and refinish and repaint it and the bumper. Sorry to hear this happened to you OP, hopefully the kids will get what they deserved in court.
