Default lt1 tapping noise

So i got this car tomorrow from a buddy that personally had everything done by a reputable shot(cincy speed) most everything as has low miles on the mods which are listed in my sig.Anyway I went to get it yesterday the car had been sitting, battery dead and needed jumped but ran great sounded solid and didnt hear any abnormal noises at all.I parked it went to start it today and i heard a chirping noise which i think was serp belt related and then as teh car warmed up it started making a tapping noise. It does it when in neutral and in gear driving when you give it any throttle. It doesnt do it at idle. The sound seems to be coming from the pass side around the back of the valve covers. It still runs fine. Its not a knocking noise like a bent pushrod. its not a clicking either I can get a video tomorrow jusst curious if anyone had any idea what it would be? thanks for any help guys

If it's toward the rear and goes with rpm i'm gonna go with an exhaust leak or some sort of valvetrain noise like a lifter or something.

thats what i was thinking collapsed lifter or stuck being that it sat for awhile.or a rocker thats loose but they both have less then 1000 miles on them.Would an exhaust leak cause such a loud tapping? liek i said its not quiet you can hear it pretty good.

it doesnt sound like a clicking noise but then again what i hear as tapping you may hear as clicking...i do have electric cutouts if it matters.

I'd go with exhaust leak first and foremost. If the cutout wasn't closing all the way it would be a more consistent sound since all 8 exhaust pulses would be traveling through it. The way you describe the tapping it sounds like it's only one cylinder, i.e. only one exhaust pulse per RPM.

If possible post a video of the sound. Gives us a better idea.

well i tried to take a video but you cant hear it much and it sounds deeper and more like a knock on the video then in person.but anyway i pulled the valve covers all the rockers and springs look good but it looked as if the rockers are hitting the inside of the valve covers as you can see in the pic either the little metal brackets inside the valve cover have been trimmed or they are hitting. Also something else i noticed is that you can feel the tapping in the clutch and gas pedal I drove it from my buddys house to mine today and it seems as if the tapping noise doesnt go along with the rpms.

for anyone interested http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/pts/3095394679.html.

3500 for everything minus lt1, 2500 for roller, 1k for t56 or 1500 for t56 and the twin disc.
