Default Timing question? New track time posted too!!!

First off, I'am by no means a tuner.. lol

But is there a general rule of thumb for reading your spark advance and what it should normally look like? I have been trying to monitor my stuff during street driving on my new motor and wanted to check up on things. Can anyone give me some pointers on this topic? Thanks

Im actually in the process of tuning my engine in timing right now. From what ive read, the lt1 likes a little higher timing then an average 350. Idle it appears to like being around 20-23*. Cruising around town its apparently not uncommon to see 35-38* timing. WOT seems to like 34-36*.

This is what ive read and expierenced with so far anyways. Dont take my word on it

Well made out to the track today...Firsts off here's the setup...

BHP 388LTX
Th350 / 3600 nitrous converter
10 bolt with 3.23 gear, LCA with relocation brackets, BMR torque arm, QA1 shocks and stock springs..
MT DR 275/60_15

Car felt good but is still spinning some and never hits third gear in the 1/8 mile..
First gear seems to be long as hell with the 3.23 gears..

So the best time leaving from a dead stop with no buildup was...

7.78 @ 90 with a 1.76 sixty...

So I know for sure I need a another good tunning session but, what do you guys think for only 3 passes on a brand new car and setup.. I know there is more in the car but I need some experts opinions and help now...lol.

As for the gear I tore the 3.73 apart for new bearings this week so just stuck this 3.23 in for the time being..
