Default Need some 7/16 stud 1.6, 1.65 or 1.7 rockers NOW

I bought some ARP 7/16 studs, some 918s, and some crane gold rockers, only to realize the cranes are wide body and wont fit. Now I need to find some narrow body rockers and dont want to spend over $150. Anybody have any lying around they want to get rid of? Or a recommendation on a set that will give me at least 10k miles before they crap out? (aka Im trying to stay away from proform)

Will standard body fit on centerbolt valvecovers or just narrow?

Has anyone run these Comp High Energy Die Cast rockers?

Just run the Proform valve covers 141-131 or 141-130 and run any rocker you like. Leave the baffles out.

I would not skimp on roller rockers; you get what you pay for.

I cut the longer supports on the valve covers with tin snips to get my Comp Ultra's to fit.

I'm contemplating running the skip white stainless NSA 1.6 7/16 stud rockers from eBay, I know everyone will flame for even thinking this but they are steel not aluminum, and $160, and this isn't a $6000 stroker motor, it's a $400 junkyard motor.

Tony, what are you spinning your motor to? Are you on stock springs?

iirc when i had madz28 do my tune he adjusted the shift points to 6000rpms with the limiter being at 6100rpms and yes stock springs and rockers. i've never even taken a valve cover off of the motor.

Yea thats around where Im shifting, 6000-6100. My motor has at least 110k on it with about 250 track passes, my springs are shot. I dont know if 918s will be too much for the stock stamped rockers.

**** that Chinese junk. There is no way they will clear if you trim the supports? Why not try it first ? Comp pro mags fit with trimming.

Im not spending as much money on ROCKERS as I did for the entire damn engine. If I can find some Comp Ultra Pro Mags for under $200 I will jump on them, but since it is rare to come across them, I doubt I will find them in the next week which is when I need them. The Crane Golds that I have are Wide body, I havnt tried them, but they are now on Ebay. Im buying either some used Scorpions or something off here, or some Skip Whites off ebay. Or if I can find some Harland Sharps, or possibly those Comp High Energy rockers. Anybody have any experience with the Comp High Energy rockers? They are USA made but aluminum, and I dont know if I trust cast aluminum.

The Cranes are part number 11772-16 if you want to see them, they are pretty wide.

Will those work for wide rockers though? Its not the height that is the problem.

I run the 141-131 covers with a wide body 1.7 rocker. Scorpion 1026.

I have Crane Gold Race rockers. Not sure what you mean by "wide body" but they are housed under the stock covers and are pretty wide across. Give them a shot. You will have to trim the cross brace on the valve cover.

I say "wide" because thats what it says on Summit

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CRN-11772-16/

I'm so confused.

You are trying to save money, but instead of snipping the valve cover supports for FREE, you sell your high end rockers on Ebay to spend $160 to buy chinese knockoffs?

The crane golds will fit. I and many others have ran them just fine, you only need to snip the braces under the cover if you are on stock valve covers.

I guarantee they will work fine.

If you are running stock valve covers the only part of the valve cover that will not fit is the 90* lip on the cross brace. You can either cut it off as shown here:

http://www.chevyhiperformance.com/te.../photo_12.html

Or if you want to keep the original integrity of the cover you can just bend the 90* lip straight with a pair of pliers or vice grips.

Well I paid $125 for these rockers without locks so I still need to spend $55 on polylocks and $25 on guideplates, and had not found info about cutting the webbing until a few of you posted. I knew that you needed to trim webbing for tall rockers like the Pro Mags, but really dont hear much, or see much in peoples sigs, or hear people recommending the cranes often, and the tech support guy at Crane said they wont fit. Hopefully nobody buys them, eBay wont let me end the auction even though nobody has bid yet

EDIT: Just jacked the price up on ebay to $250 with a BIN of $300. If someone wants to pay that much, then it wasnt mean to be and Ill pick up some Pro Mags.
