Default Help with opti install

Well I pulled my old opti, turned out to be an accel one I'm replacing itwith a new GM opti. So I installed it put everything back together while I was at it removed air system while I was under there along with installing underdrive pulleys. So all together now went to start it when I started back firing when turning over. So I think I installed it wrong and the timing is off. Is this correct or should I look some place else cause I'm also getting ready to install a walbro 255 fuel pump.

Here is a pic of the back sides.

Also the accel one had now rubber o rings while my new one did can it leak from not having these?

You probably did something wrong with the install. Check that the plug wires are at the right cylinders on the opti. Cant really do much else besides you getting in there and actually looking everything over.

Yeah its pretty hard to mess up an Opti install even if you have never done one before. I have heard storied of getting a bad Opti out of the box but like other said, you probably have your plug wires mixed up.

Pretty straight forward The little titty goes on the dowel Kinda like connect the dots & the Opti is marked for plug #s Odd numbers on drivers side Even on pass side Pretty simple really Really its easier than a SBC

Does the GM opti have an MSD cap? Just wondering what's up with the red.

They are not making fun of you, just a little ribbing. Alot of the guys on here have done over 3 opti installs on their own cars in very few years, some with up to 5. Needless to say they have experience, and are bitter about the amount of $$ spent on them.

Why did you put sealant on the opti? It should have a rubber gasket underneath the cap.
