Default 94 lt1 roadmaster head swap?

I have a 350 lt1 iron head motor from a roadmaster I found a set of rebuild ported 96 alum lt1 heads from a corvette for 200 bucks, is swapping over to these heads a good idea or should I just stick with what I got, I plan to do some bolt ons down the road.

Are you SURE it's an LT1 and not an L99?

The Roadmaster got the LT1 standard, L99 was ONLY available in the Caprice sedan 94-96 the only exception is rumors of a single Caprice wagon special ordered with an L99.

Far as the swap, it "sounds good" but at the same time 96 Vette castings are likely 571s thin castings not prefered for porting and if the "porting" was so cheap the guy is willing to sell the heads for what a good set of unmolested cores goes for I would be concerned that the heads either have issues or the porting is just **** and never worked well. Maybe it is a screaming deal, maybe they are junk, or it could be anything in between we can't tell.

The motor is a lt1 350 it has the 327 casting on the side of the block. Ill dbl check on the porting im sure he said they were ported i could be wrong but i know he said the valve were done with a 3 angle cut and the springs were upgrade reason sellin so cheap cause im family and he just wants them gone. Are there much differenace bewteen the cast and the alum heads. Im sure the alum would flow better than the cast

Cast iron heads have actually been shown to flow better than as-cast aluminum heads, but the added weight negates any static gains. They also use press-in rocker studs - less than ideal for a performance build. Although you could probably drill and tap for thread-in studs.

aluminum heads will raise compression.

The f-body and b-body shortblocks are identical.

The b-body heads offer 10.0 compression with .029 gasket and the aluminum heads 10.4 with .049 gasket. For NA use I would use a thin gasket and the aluminum heads if you need to swap them for some reason.

I would not bother swapping completely stock iron heads for completely stock aluminum heads. Now if you have better springs for the aluminum or they are indeed ported etc. those are reasons to swap.

I would not bother with ported heads and a stock cam, even if you want stock manners and sound there is a lot of room to upgrade from stock.
