Default ??Just for curiosity and for fun??

A recent thread got me to wondering....and I'm posting the same question for all of us LT1 guys to answer:

What would you sell your LT1 car for as a roller? If someone just said, "Hey I want your car to throw my drivetrain in. What would you take for it?" And you knew they were serious, willing to pay a deposit, whatever.
1. How much would you say?
2. What would they be getting?

I'm not posting this to shop for a car. I won't be in the position to buy another project for awhile...if I ever do. I just thought it would be an interesting read.

Your car is clean.

Also...everyone post a pic along with your answer if you can. Also...try not to "inflate" your number based on the magical "what if someone just walked up to you" part. I know most of us would pull a motor/trans if we got 6 or 7 grand for our car. LOL

I'm planning on having one at the end of the month. Stripped, interior in pieces, stock suspension, with a 10 pt cage, and wheels to roll on for $1500. Oh yea and a painless 18 circuit wiring harness.

Eh I would pay 1500-2500 for a nice roller with no body damage, nice interior with no dash/center console cracks, leather seats, good tread on tires. Basically a car that you could do a re-paint if desired but don't have to.

Saw a few pop up locally for 1k-1.5k but most have been higher mileage or in a bad area.

You can also look for V6's too with a blown head gasket etc. And higher mileage LT1 z28/Trans Ams selling for like 2k-3k which can be good if you want to sell the drivetrain to re-coup some money or say its not worth the hassle and just get one as a roller.

The problem with these cars as a roller is they are basically the same thing as a v6 minus the ws6 hood/ss hood/17 in rims. And many of the parts can be had pretty cheap if needed.

Now if it were an Ls1 Ws6 or SS then I'd say up to 3500.

Edit: And also you have to think of if it would be worth it for someone to lets say put an Ls1 into an Lt1 body, when they can get an Ls1 car for a little more. That drives the Lt1 roller 'ceiling' down.

I'm enjoying the replies, but I'm asking what would each of you take for YOUR car? Not what do you value a roller at. I think there are ALOT of cars on here that most of us are very familiar with....have seen pics of and read about for years. Project threads, build threads, etc. Those are the ones I think we will all find most interesting.

For example: RamAir95TA 's car is for sale for $9500 (which is a steal for a 10 sec on motor car!!) and I know he doesn't wanna part it out, but wonder what his answer to this would be? Just using it for an example because it is already for sale on here.
Also, no FLAMING of anyone on here if you think they are crazy for what they want or I'll just delete this thread.

Your answer will vary. A bone stock high miles roller will sell for a lot less than say a car with a 9in and drag suspension (basically drop a motor/tranny in and have a race ready setup)...

This is certainly true. I just thought it would a fun read if most of the regulars on here posted up.

Less motor and trans I would probably ask for $6000 simply because I have so much more invested into the chassis than the engine.

Wouldn't be worth it for most to sell a roller on here since you won't get back what's into it.

I would want 3 grand to even think about it, but I'd be lucky to get half of that.

Yep. The paint on mine is ****, but has excellent suspension, wheels/tires and interior. Probably wouldn't see more than a grand for it especially around these parts. I can't remember the last time I saw a Z28 of any f-body generation.

As a roller? no less then say 18-20 grand. Not really for sale but if they wanted it that is what it would take. Drop in a motor and trans and roll
